Colle dell’Agnello 4 Days
Posted by Peet Correia on
This is a self-guided adventure which offers greater flexibility to travellers who want freedom when it comes to travel schedules and trip itineraries.
The Colle dell’Agnello is a mountain pass in the Cottian Alps, west of Monte Viso between France and Italy which links the Queyras valley (Hautes-Alpes) with Pontechianale in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont.
At 2,744 m. it is the third highest paved road pass of the Alps, after Stelvio Pass and Col de l’Iseran.
Despite being the highest international pass of the Alps, the Colle dell’Agnello is somewhat unknown and not heavily used.
The ride is one of the most challenging, longest and most beautiful climbs in Europe.
The Colle dell’Agnello was crossed twice by the Tour de France and twice by the Giro d’Italia.
A must for all lovers of the challenges at high altitudes, the Colle dell’Agnello has been Cima Coppi and Queen Stage of the Giro d’Italia.
The summit of this climb is at the Italian/French border.
Reaching the summit of the Colle dell’Agnello will offer spectacular views across the Alps and will be worth the effort of the climb and make this excursion a memorable event.
